ProShell™ TPEE – Soft Monolithic Laminate for Polyester-Based Outdoor Performance

ProShell™ TPEE by Kae Hwa Industrial is a high-performance 2-layer, 2.5-layer, and 3-layer laminate system developed for premium outdoor apparel exposed to rain, wind, physical movement, and changing mountain conditions.

At the center of the structure is a soft monolithic TPEE membrane that blocks external liquid water while transferring internally generated moisture vapor through hydrophilic molecular diffusion. Unlike microporous membranes, it does not depend on physical pores, enabling a smooth, flexible, and quiet material response during movement.

By combining the TPEE membrane with polyester or recycled-polyester face and backing fabrics, ProShell™ TPEE also supports a more unified polyester-family laminate architecture—reducing mixed-material complexity without compromising waterproof protection, comfort, or durability.

Soft Monolithic Laminate for Polyester-Compatible Outdoor Performance

ProShell™ TPEE Series

ProShell™ TPEE is a premium waterproof and breathable laminate developed for mountaineering shells, ski apparel, technical rainwear, and other demanding outdoor applications. Combining a monolithic TPEE membrane with polyester face and backing fabrics, it delivers a soft, quiet, and flexible wearing experience while maintaining reliable protection against rain and wind.

Its polyester-compatible construction also reduces mixed-material complexity, providing a practical material direction for outdoor brands developing more circular 2L, 2.5L, and 3L garments.

Flexible Protection for Premium Outdoor Shells

Outdoor apparel must manage two different sources of moisture: rain from the outside and perspiration generated inside the garment. ProShell™ TPEE uses a continuous, non-porous membrane that blocks external liquid water while transporting moisture vapor through its hydrophilic polymer structure. Unlike microporous membranes, it releases vapor through molecular diffusion rather than open air pathways. The result is a smooth and flexible laminate designed for technical garments that require waterproof protection, high moisture-vapor transfer, quiet movement, and long-term wearing comfort.

Soft and Quiet During Movement

The elastic character of TPEE allows the membrane to bend and move naturally with the textile layers. This helps reduce the stiff, plastic-like feel and friction noise sometimes associated with technical waterproof materials, making it suitable for long-distance trekking, skiing, and active mountain use.

Monolithic Waterproof Breathability

The TPEE membrane forms a continuous waterproof barrier without physical pores. Hydrophilic polymer segments absorb and transfer moisture vapor toward the outer surface, supporting internal moisture management while preserving protection from rain and wind.

Built for Flexible Outdoor Performance

TPEE combines flexibility, elastic recovery, heat resistance, and mechanical stability. These characteristics support repeated body movement, garment construction, lamination processing, and outdoor use under changing temperatures and humid conditions.

Core Advantages

Soft & Flexible Hand Provides smooth drape, quiet movement, and comfortable flexibility for premium technical outerwear.
High MVTR Potential Transfers internally generated moisture vapor through hydrophilic molecular diffusion.
Waterproof & Windproof The continuous, non-porous membrane helps block rain and wind without relying on exposed micropores.
Polyester-Compatible Can be paired with polyester or recycled-polyester face and backing fabrics to create a more consistent polymer-family laminate.

Polyester-Compatible Circular Design

ProShell™ TPEE can be developed with a polyester face fabric, TPEE membrane, and polyester backing layer. Because TPEE is a thermoplastic polyester elastomer, this structure keeps the principal laminate components within the broader polyester family. This helps reduce incompatible polymer combinations and supports easier material identification and future polyester-oriented recovery strategies.

* Actual recyclability still depends on the adhesive, surface treatments, dyes, seam tape, garment accessories, collection system, and available recycling process.

FAQ

ProShell™ TPEE is a waterproof and moisture-vapor-permeable outdoor laminate made with a monolithic TPEE membrane and polyester textile layers.

Hydrophilic polymer segments absorb and transport moisture vapor through the membrane by molecular diffusion. Liquid water remains blocked by the continuous non-porous structure.

TPEE is a thermoplastic polyester elastomer with flexible and elastic characteristics. Combined with suitable polyester fabrics and controlled lamination, it creates a soft, quiet, and flexible technical textile.

The polyester-compatible structure is designed to reduce mixed-material complexity and support future recovery pathways. Final recyclability must be evaluated according to the complete garment construction and the selected recycling system.
