ProShell™ PP is a lightweight waterproof and breathable laminate developed for active outdoor apparel, packable weather protection, and mono-material product design.

The system combines a microporous PP membrane with compatible PP face and backing textiles. Its engineered pore structure allows air and moisture vapor to move through the laminate while helping resist external liquid water and wind.

With its low-density construction, mechanical stability, and customizable 2L, 2.5L, and 3L formats, ProShell™ PP supports lightweight performance for cycling, fast hiking, trail apparel, and practical outdoor shells. Microporous PP Technology for Active Outdoor Performance

ProShell™ PP uses engineered microscale pathways to balance waterproof protection with air and moisture-vapor transfer. Unlike monolithic TPEE membranes, which transport vapor through hydrophilic molecular diffusion, the PP membrane relies on a physical microporous structure. This gives ProShell™ PP a more direct airflow mechanism suited to high-output outdoor movement.

A filler-free PP membrane option can also create micropores through controlled crystalline stretching, reducing reliance on conventional mineral fillers while maintaining lightweight waterproof breathability.

Mono-PP Circular Design

ProShell™ PP can be developed around a polypropylene-oriented material structure:

  • Face layer: PP woven, knitted, or lightweight technical textile
  • Functional layer: Microporous or filler-free PP membrane
  • Backing layer: PP knit, tricot-style textile, or lightweight nonwoven

Aligning the main layers around PP makes the laminate easier to identify and sort and can support selected plastic-to-plastic recovery pathways. A polypropylene structure using PP membrane and PP textile layers is also consistent with the material-compatibility approach described in the recyclable laminate framework.
